Eugenija Sutkienė was honoured with the “Star of Kindness” award

Last week, during an event organised by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour to mark the 10th anniversary of the care reform, Eugenija Sutkienė, Chair of the Board of SOS Children’s Villages and Senior Partner at TEGOS Legal, was honoured with the Star of Kindness award.

For over 30 years, Eugenija Sutkienė has been the founder and long-standing leader of SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania, making an invaluable contribution to ensuring that every child can grow up in a family – whether that be their biological family or a foster family.

“I am deeply moved to see the tremendous impact this reform has had on Lithuania and on children who have lost parental care – many of whom have found families and foster parents, and whose development is now supported by numerous qualified professionals. I witnessed how many institutions genuinely care about these issues and realised that our organisation, as a pioneer of these services, has made a truly meaningful contribution. It was not in vain.

On a personal level, this work has helped me grow as a person and devote my time outside of my main professional duties not to what is useful or fashionable, but to what is truly meaningful,” says Eugenija Sutkienė.
