Estonia takes a major step towards 24/7 automated pharmacies

The Accelerate Estonia project, which aims to introduce 24/7 automated pharmacies in Estonia, has reached an important milestone. The draft amendment to the Medicinal Products Act has been submitted for public consultation and will soon proceed to the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) for legislative review.

The introduction of automated pharmacies will improve access to medicines across Estonia, help address the shortage of pharmacists, and contribute to a more efficient healthcare system. In addition to enhancing the patient experience, the new regulatory framework will create opportunities for Estonian health technology companies to grow and expand internationally.

Law firm TEGOS advised on the legal aspects of the project and contributed to the development of the regulatory framework in cooperation with Accelerate Estonia and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
