TEGOS (formerly TGS Baltic) team advised 2C Ventures and AS SmartCap Green Fund on making investments into deeptech startup ÄIO tech.
The investment round was led by 2C Ventures as the lead investor, and in addition to SmartCap further supported by two leading Finnish deeptech focused venture capital funds – Nordic Foodtech VC and Voima Ventures.
2C Ventures is a new pre-seed to Series-A and Norther Europe focused cleantech venture fund launched in 2024. SmartCap provides cornerstone investments for private fund managers to create a vital venture capital market in Estonia and enable ambitious and innovative Estonian companies to emerge and grow globally.
ÄIO tech is research heavy deeptech startup founded in 2022 with a mission to replace palm oil, coconut oil and animal fats with sustainable and healthier alternatives. By introducing environmentally friendly microbial lipid products to the market, they aim to evoke a turn of mind towards more responsible production and consumption. Their biotechnology solution utilizes proprietary yeast, which converts various side streams into value-added ingredients rich in lipids, proteins, antioxidants, and pigments.
The biotechnology startup ÄIO has raised €6.1 million through venture capital funds Voima Ventures, 2C Ventures, SmartCap and Nordic Foodtech VC.
