TEGOS Partners Highlighted National and Cybersecurity Challenges at the conference Security Code 2025

On October 17, Vilnius hosted the largest security-focused event in the country, the Security Code conference, held at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. The event brought together over 3,000 participants and more than 150 experts from various sectors to discuss what it means to be secure today – both at the state level and for individual citizens.

This year, TEGOS partners Karolis Smaliukas and Mindaugas Civilka shared their expertise on topics ranging from national to cybersecurity.

In his presentation, Karolis Smaliukas highlighted that national security is not only a political issue – it directly impacts corporate investments, public procurement, and partner selection. Yet, alongside real threats, societies increasingly face the influence of populism, where security concerns are used as tools for political or public sentiment.

“When we hear slogans in the public sphere such as ‘ban it, block it, remove it,’ we must first remember that restrictions are only permissible when there is a clear legal basis. Otherwise, we risk turning national security into a convenient instrument for populism rather than a means to ensure real safety,” Karolis emphasized.

The event was organised by Lrytas.
